Elsie Marie (Rehmus) Hearn, 88, of Little Rock, Ark., formerly of Du Bois, departed this life on Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at the St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock, Ark. from injuries sustained in a hit and run auto accident.
Elsie was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, William and Lottie (Knapp) Rehmus, sister - Goldie Wagner, and brothers - Melburn Rehmus, Gus Rehmus, Galvester Rehmus and Sylvester Rehmus.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years - Roy Valentine Hearn of Little Rock, Ark., daughter - Charlotte Alexander (Raymond) of Little Rock, Ark., son - Kenneth Hearn (Cindy) of Huntsville, Ala., grandchildren - Bryce Alexander and Corey Bracy (Brian) of Little Rock, Ark., and Sarah Hearn of Huntsville, Ala., sisters-in-law - Francis Rehmus of Scheller and Elsie Rehmus of Ellenwood, Ga., and many nieces and nephews.
Elsie was born March 10, 1917 in Scheller.  She was baptized and confirmed in St. Mark's Evangelical and Reformed Church in Du Bois.  At the age of 17, she left the farm and moved to East St. Louis, where she met and married Roy on October 28, 1937.  A devoted wife and mother, she kept a spotless house and taught her children well, instilling in them the values of love, loyalty, and responsibility.  In 1961, ALCOA transferred Roy to the Arkansas Operations in Bauxite, Ark..  The family settled in nearby Little Rock, where Elsie went to work for the J.C. Penney Company from which she retired in 1980.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 23, 2005 at the St. Mark's United Church of Christ in Du Bois with Rev. Tom Ellison officiating.
Interment will be in the Chapel Hill Cemetery at Du Bois.
Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa is in charge of arrangements.
